‘You know, this place makes me wonder… Which would be worse – to live as a monster, or to die as a good man?’

Scorsese’s Shutter Island follows Leonardo DiCaprio as US Marshall, Teddy Daniels, as he investigates the disappearance of a murderous woman from an asylum for the criminally insane. SPOILERS: It turns out it’s all a figment of ‘Teddy’s’ imagination, and really he has been a patient at the asylum for the past two years; he killed his wife after he discovered she had drowned his three children.

It’s really well done, and surprisingly, it’s actually better the second time you watch it, knowing the big plot twist, to look out for all the clues and to appreciate the early discussions of mental health and fake realities.There are dozens of little hints that the early part of the film is fictional, and it’s very enjoyable trying to catch…
